CUAS Technical Writer with Security Clearance

POSITION OVERVIEW Xator Corporation is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to join a fast paced, cross-functional Counter Unmanned Aircraft Systems (CUAS) project team assigned to identify best capabilities to meet the client’s CUAS requirements. The Technical Writer is responsible for generating innovative ideas for content while working both independently and collaboratively as a part of the Solutions Development team. The Technical Writer will assist the Solutions Development Project Manager in documenting a compendium of CUAS capabilities. The Technical Writer will review OEM literature, meet with OEM representatives, and document assessments in a report format. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS) * Determine the clearest and most logical way to present information for greatest reader comprehension. * Generate innovative ideas for content and workflow solutions. * Review and/or copyedit content developed by other members of the team. * Meet with subject-matter experts to ensure specialized topics are clearly presented. * Analyze information required for the development or update of a policy or procedure and create appropriate documentation. JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS Citizenship/Passport/Security Clearance: The candidate must be a US citizen and have a minimum of a SECRET level clearance. Education * Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, English, Journalism, or a related area of study, or equivalent experience Experience in the Following Areas * Minimum 2-5 years in a technical writing role or related communication role * Solid English writing skills, including the ability to describe complex concepts and processes to both technical and non-technical audiences * Solid communication and listening skills * Solid research skills and attention to detail * Technical aptitude and a basic understanding of technology development processes * The potential to become fluent with XML authoring tools, content management systems, and collaboration and source-control tools * Experience with the Microsoft Office suite * A positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Specialized Knowledge/Skills Requirements * Exceptional written communication ability * Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with multiple stakeholders * Proven problem-solving and critical-thinking skills * Ability to work both independently and within small teams * Strong time management and organization skills * Ability to complete and accept accountability for required reports and presentations Physical Requirements/Working Conditions * Full-time, 40 hours a week * Travel: ~30% to support industry engagement and system assessments * Physical requirements can include walking, climbing, crawling through small spaces, and standing or sitting for long periods.
