Job Summary

The Automation Engineer will provide a key role in the implementation and integration of automation projects across several manufacturing plants in the U.S. This person will work with a team to design, fabricate, and install small and large automation projects in the field of medium manufacturing. This person will report directly to the VP of Engineering

Responsibilities

• In this role you will design and complete medium to high level manufacturing automation engineering projects to meet business objectives, along with providing support in the field.
• You will be responsible for design, development, and support of new and existing electrical designs in all types of manufacturing processes and methods. This involves planning, engineering, fabrication, and implementation.
• Research, evaluate and recommend new technologies and vendors, while assisting in the fabrication and assembly of automation projects to ensure projects conform to business and operational needs.

Requirements

• B.S. In Electrical Engineering/Mechatronics Engineering/Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of industrial automation/electrical engineering design experience (PLC, Control Systems, Solid State Circuitry, VFD drives and related communication devices).
• Intermediate to advanced skill with AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent & MS Office.
• Working knowledge of robotics and downstream automated processes is a plus.
• Practical knowledge of industrial controls including power distribution, 120/240vac controls, 24vdc sensor type devices and 240-480V 3-phase motors and controls, variable speed drives, instrumentation,
• Proficient with PLC programming and HMI programming software, including the ability to create new programs using Allen Bradley or equivalent controls.
• Familiarity in NEC regulatory requirements to perform hands on fabrication, assembly, and implementation.
• Self-motivation and the ability to work with a team and/or contractors to obtain specific automation goals and requirements.
• Moderate travel will be required.
