Job Summary

We are seeking a manager for our Electrical Engineering – Production group at Allegany Ballistics Laboratory (ABL) location in Rocket Center, WV. ABL develops and manufactures a broad range of products, primarily for defense, with a focus on tactical solid rocket propulsion. This technical management position oversees the engineering team supporting production fuzing, ignition safety devices (ISDs), and similar electronic systems. The manager will work with the Program Managers and the lead electrical engineers to coordinate and support the day-to-day activities of the EE engineering team assigned to the respective program and will also act as a technical contributor or technical consultant on various projects. The manager will also focus attention on the career development needs of the team members.

Responsibilities for this position include:

Manage a group of engineers supporting a variety of ISD, Fuzing, and other production programs.
Provide leadership and development support to the team members
Evaluate performance of individuals and provide feedback during periodic discussions
Collaborate with and direct engineers to ensure program goals are understood & achieved, technical solutions satisfy customer requirements, and product development adheres to and complies with NG processes and standards.
Conduct resource planning, allocation and management to meet staffing and department budget goals.
Form close working relationships with NG program managers, and the IPT’s and Government technical leaders on ISD and Fuzing programs.

Basic Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, a candidate must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

BS in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering and five (5) years of industry experience with three (3) years of experience related to Fuzing/ISD preferred; or, MS in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering and three (3) years of related (Fuzing/ISD) experience
Strong knowledge of electrical circuits
Proficient in various electrical analysis tools
Sound technical decision-making skills
Demonstrated the ability to mentor early career engineers
Excellent leadership, influence, and people management skills
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to effectively communicate to all levels of employees, management, and customers
Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance
Must possess the skills necessary to lead and motivate others, achieving results in a timely manner.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

Experience as Technical manager, lead, or other similar leadership role with team building, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Experience with design and test of electronic devices (safety critical devices such as Fuzes/ISDs is preferred)
Experience with electronics design/test and mechanical design as well as lead engineering experience on development or production programs
Experience leading Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) or managing technical design teams.
Experience with electronics packaging and GD&T
Position prefers a candidate with an active DoD Secret security clearance

Salary Range: $103,300 USD – $154,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
