Senior Tax Accountant

MRC Global

This is a Full-time position in Charleston, WV posted September 20, 2022.

Overview:

MRC Global serves the oil and gas industry across the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors as well as the chemical and gas distribution market sectors worldwide. We have an immediate opening for a Senior Tax Accountant.

Job Purpose: Under direction of the Tax Manager, the Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for the preparation of U.S. federal, state and local income tax returns and estimated payments, preparation of U.S. tax provision and state apportionment, and assisting with other areas of taxation as needed.

This position is eligible to work 2 days per week remotely.

Responsibilities:

Individual must be able to perform the essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities will be for the following primary processes, that are critical to to the overall tax functions at MRC Global.

Preparation of U.S. Federal / State / Franchise tax returns and quarterly
estimated payments

Preparation of U.S. Tax Provision (monthly/quarterly/year-end) and monthly
estimated payments

Preparation of state and local apportionment schedules

Preparation of U.S./Canadian filings as assigned (Form 1099, Form 1042,
FBAR, Non-resident WHT deposits, Form 720 PCORI fee

Primary resource for data gathering and analysis required for annual tax
projects

Monitoring fixed asset and charitable contribution conformity to tax
basis for accounting

Transfer Pricing, US/INTL charges (to include SAP chargeout)

Primary support for MRC Global Tax Dept. with regards to Canadian and U.S.
Federal and state income/franchise tax audits

Qualifications:

Any combination of requirements, which provide knowledge and abilities necessary to perform essential duties and responsibilities, will be considered.

Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent combination of education and work experience that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work

3 – 5 years prior work experience in tax accounting, with proven progressive work experience

Strong computer skills: Proficiency in Tax software and MS Office

Strong accounting and analytical skills

Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

Detail oriented & ability to multi-task

Ability to work independently and contribute to the quality process by learning new procedures and functions within the department as needed

Knowledge of and adherence to generally accepted accounting principles and tax laws

Additional Qualifications:

Must have the ability to provide documentation verifying legal work status;
Ability to read and speak the English language proficiently in order to communicate with others, understand and interpret safety instructions, and to respond to inquiries;
Ability to understand and comply with MRC guidelines and expectations, to include Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest guidelines.
